These plants started life as small almost black flowers on trees located at Rakaia Gorge, 300 meters above sea level amongst the Canterbury Foothills. We collect our seed from here as these trees have survival built into their DNA.

We grow all our plants in the best potting mix you can buy and tend to them in our minimal spray nursery until they are ready for planting. When they are just a centimetre or 2 tall we prick them out, treating them tenderly. Then we put them in the open air. No shade, wind or frost protection. If they are going to succumb we want them to do it here in the nursery, not in your garden.

P.tenuifolium is a frost hardy, fast growing small tree. A New Zealand Native that can be trimmed for an attractive hedge or left to provide shelter for your property or animals. Given average conditions and ample water these 35cm high plants should be approximately 1 meter high in 12 months.

You choose when you want delivery. If you don’t want them right away we will look after them for you in our nursery until you are ready to plant. (Parental visiting rights apply.)

Planting Information For a quickly forming tight hedge plant at 600mm spacing. Maximum spacing for hedges 900mm. For shelter plant at 1200mm for a dense shelter through to 1800mm for a see through shelter.
