Although similar externally to many other telescopes on the market, these telescopes are supplied with superior expensive (over half the price) 1.25" eyepieces (not 0.96" or H & SR 1.25") and moreover, the eyepieces have been specially selected to give a much more useful and practical range of magnifications
See hundreds of craters on the Moon, Jupiters 4 brightest moons, Saturns rings, phases of Venus, double stars, large star clusters, nebulae and much more!
Full height adjustable aluminium tripod with accessory tray.
Diameter/Aperture: 76mm
Focal Length: 700mm
Aluminized and overcoated mirrors
6x24 finderscope
Smooth rack-and-pinion 1.25" focuser
18% more light gathering power than a 70mm refractor. Enough to allow simple study of star clusters and nebulae
Two premium quality 1.25" diameter eyepieces, wide angle 20mm and high power 10mm plus a 2X Barlow lens
Beginners usually make the mistake of seeking too much magnification. A lot of telescope marketeers offer magnifications of 675X for a scope this size to catch the unwary beginners and make more sales!!) This is quite rediculous and will not focus at all clearly.
Beware of telescopes with H and SR type eyepieces especially the focal length groups 20 12.5 and 4 or 20 and 6mm with the H omitted or not; these are cheap old technology with about a quarter of the field of view and less correction for spherical and chromatic (colour fringe) aberrations (errors)The 76mm mini Dobs. have H and SR eyepieces and uncorrected spherical mirrors resulting in much inferior performance to this scope.
