This is a truly awesome scope for viewing the Moon and planets

The planetary images of this Dobsonian mounted Newtonian F8, paraboloidal mirrored reflector are very close to those of very expensive ED and Apo. refractors

The digital images of the Moon and Saturn were taken with this scopes' 200mm brother. Please see those listings for further details. This 6" is visually slightly sharper than the 8"!

BEWARE of short tube reflectors with spherical primary mirrors. Short tube spherical mirrored 6" or 8" reflectors have significantly inferior planetary images to even F8 4.5" spherical mirrored long tube reflectors, and can only give sharp images at up to about 30x magnification, but claim 430x.

You don't need 400X plus to view planets, and even more so if its going to be a big blur, but optics that are sharp up to 100 to 300x, when conditions allow are highly desirable.

So it's a simple choice: do you want a "bargain" priced scope that sounds & looks the part, or one that does the job?
