This umbrella gives more light than the umbrella softbox with the black exterior and is more suited in a room where the spread of light will add to the image desired. Like a very large ball source of light.
The umbrella soft box is far simpler, lighter and is more easily manipulated than a softbox and is suited to all flashes, not requiring a speed ring.
