Description
A classic Pioneer Quadraphonic 4 channel decoder Amplifier from the 1970s.
This QL-600A Amplifier has 4 channel outputs driven from a choice of 2 decoders, a “regular Matrix” or the SQ Matrix. The input may be 2 or 4 channels from tape or vinyl, BUT an external preamp is required for phono level (2,2mv) vinyl. i.e. It does not have its own phono input. It will also accept a wide range of other inputs including tape, tuner, and cassette.
All of this is explained in a photocopy of the manual, which is included.
It is not often that gear from this era becomes available in this condition. The front panel is nearly mint cosmetically, but one level meter ‘s bulb is not working (This should be an reasonably easy replacement). The genuine walnut plywood case is unmarked with no visible scratches I could find. The build quality is seriously good, being equivalent to instrumentation quality of the time. The unit has been checked over by a service person and it’s fully working as it should.
