The Alessandro MS Pro - peak of the Alessandro Music Series, made by famous Brooklyn headphone manufacturers Grado Labs.

The closest can in Grado's range is the NZ$999 RRP RS-1, with which the MS Pro shares the metal surrounds (unlike lesser models which use plastic).

The MS Pros sound a little different to the Grado line-up, and are more laid back and less in your face. They still retain that unparalleled level of detail and the fantastic tonality that makes guitars and strings sound so, so good. They're just a bit more suitable to all kinds of music, and not just rock!

I've compared these directly with Sennheiser HD600s, and Beyer DT880s - the MS Pros have more detail, and a more natural sound, especially with vocals. But I have too many headphones, and the HD600s are just more comfortable. So I'm very reluctantly parting with these gorgeous wooden beasties.

This pair is in excellent condition - the pads, cable, wooden cups, and headband are all as new. No technical problems - they work perfectly. The grilles have a couple of small specs where the black paint has worn off and is revealing the silver metal - though this can be corrected visually with a permanent marker if you wish.

These are close to the best headphones money can buy, and it's very, very difficult to find them in New Zealand. Unlike Grados, you *can* import them from the USA, but you'll be paying GST to customs on top of the US$699 price tag!

Go on, put me out of my misery. They have to go to a good home!
