Technics SL-10 – Tangential tracking, quartz lock, direct drive, fully automatic turntable with moving coil cartridge and inbuilt phono amp.

This is a design classic that has earned itself a place in the New York Museum of Modern Art.

Equipped with original and highly regarded, EPS-310MC moving-coil cartridge which has had about 25 hours playing since Real Music, in Wellington, examined it and advised they thought it had a good 200 hours left in the stylus. I understand re-tipping of these can be performed by Soundsmith.

Fully functional with all lights and LEDs operating as well as the automatic record size selection, queuing and manual arm movement. Arm queuing mechanism has recently had damping lubricant replaced and the traversing mechanism has been lubricated. All belts in the lid appeared to be in good nick but I did not try to remove any.

No chips but some wear showing on the buttons.

As is frequently the case with these units, the rubber parts of the feet have started to shown signs of their age and develop splits, but I have managed to repair and reinforce them before any parts of them were lost.

Manual and packaging were lost in a basement flood many years ago but the manuals can be downloaded for free from Vinyl Engine.

I have owned this unit since new (early 80’s) but have recently upgraded and find myself with a surplus of turntables. Plus, it is better that someone enjoys using this machine than it goes back into the wardrobe.

An audition can be arranged.

Delivery and packaging will be at buyer’s expense and can be to buyer’s specification. Pickup is possible and probably safer, although this turntable will not be as delicate in shipping as one with a plastic cover or removable platter. Weight is about 6.5 Kg
