Description
Up for grabs...
A vintage Technics SL-120 direct drive turntable. This is the HiFi version of the classic SL-1200.
Along with its SP-10 broadcast brother, the SL-120/1200 is a Japanese engineering success story. At the heart of it is a magnificent demonstration of Matushita's industrial might, their direct current motor and speed regulation system that keeps the platter spinning at an incredibly stable speed. And it's built to last forever.
This example's in outstanding condition. The platter bearing is tight, smooth, and it holds nice stable speed on both 33 and 45RPM. Cosmetically it's still in amazing shape after all these years, but for a couple of tiny marks. The original dustcover is in near perfect condition with no cracks or scratches, just the usual light swirl marks.
Aimed at the audiophile market, the SL-120 was originally sold without a tonearm. The owner would choose and install their own arm. The arm board is designed for an SME arm but this one has been fitted with a quality S shaped arm with no visible brand, which performs brilliantly. On the end of it, it has a near new Audio Technica AT95E cartridge.
The turntable had a service and going-over only 3 months ago.
