IMPORTANT:
I'm clearing these out at a very low price, & because of this I can't offer any guarantee or support for this product. I can email basic instructions for installation/use though.
Also, as detailed below, this by itself isn't enough to play ps2 backups. It is all you need to play ps1 backups though.

External modchip for Playstation2, plugs into USB socket. Sometimes referred to as neokey or sbox.
Does require 1 wire(not included) to be connected between 2 points inside PS2, but this is bound to be easier than installing an internal modchip.
Has switch on front to turn on/off, LED on modchip blinks when on.

Compatibility:
IMPORTANT: Apparently this will ONLY work for Playstation2 models SCPH-30006 or lower. This number is printed on the back of your PS2.
Will not work with Slimline Playstation2's.

PS1 backups, & maybe imports:
Once you have this installed, you can play PS1 backups(I have tested this, & it worked fine on my PS2), nothing else is required. No need to do a 'disk-swap'. Might also work for PS1 imports, but not sure.

PS2 backups / imports:
To play PS2 backups, imports, you require *one* of these = 'Action Replay' , 'GameShark' or 'Swap Magic' for Playstation2.
Action Replay & GameShark will only work for CDR backups, Swap Magic works for CDR & DVDR backups & imports.
NOTE FOR SWAP MAGIC: It seems you might still need a slide tool to use this, maybe only for Version3+ of Swap Magic though.

Unfortunately I can't test PS2 functions properly, as my PS2 laser is very weak & not reading DVD disks properly.

Laser Calibration:
Apparently this modchip helps the laser calibrate to a good level for reading disks, thus making it easier for your PS2 to read disks &/or prevent laser wearing out as fast.
Unfortunately my old PS2 already had worn laser prior to this, but it did seem to help when reading a PS2 backup CDR.

Can only use in top USB socket apparently.
