Newspaper print ad terms and conditions
You agree to these terms and conditions when purchasing a print advertisement to appear in one of the following newspapers: The Dominion Post, The Press, and the Waikato Times.
Fee and payment
A print ad will cost $199 (includes GST), payable through your Trade Me account. If you do not have sufficient funds in your Trade Me account, you will be prompted to top up your account prior to purchasing the print ad.
Content of the newspaper print ad
Your print ad will include:
- A colour picture (the first image on your Trade Me listing)
- Address of your property for sale
- Number of bedrooms and bathrooms
- Property asking price
- Phone number
The content of the print ad is drawn from the information you entered for your Trade Me listing. Once you have purchased the print ad, any subsequent changes made to the Trade Me listing will not be reflected in the print ad.
All listings must be legally compliant and not contain anything of an offensive or otherwise objectionable nature.
Trade Me will send you a confirmation email immediately after you have purchased the print ad. The email will confirm the date of publication of the print ad in the relevant newspaper and provide you with a unique reference number for your print ad.
Fairfax will contact you if there are any issues with your print ad appearing in the relevant newspaper on the day you were notified it would appear in your confirmation email.
If you wish to change, withdraw or amend your print ad in any way after you have purchased it, please contact the relevant newspaper (contact details below) and use your unique reference number to identify the ad. If you have any questions about the print ad, either before or after the ad has printed, please contact the relevant newspaper.

The Dominion Post, The Press and The Waikato Times newspapers are all owned by Fairfax New Zealand Limited (Fairfax).
Fairfax terms and conditions of advertising
- In accepting your print ad for publication, and in publishing it, Fairfax is doing so in consideration of and relying on your express warranty that:
- the advertisement does not contain anything: that is misleading or deceptive or likely to mislead or deceive or which breaches the Fair Trading Act 1986; that is defamatory or indecent or which otherwise offends against generally accepted community standards; that infringes a copyright or trademark or otherwise infringes any intellectual or industrial property rights; that breaches any provision of any statute, regulation, by-law or any other rule or law, and
- the advertisement complies in every way with the Advertising Codes of Practice issued by the Advertising Standards Authority ("ASA") and with every other code or industry relating to advertising in New Zealand, and
- publication of the advertisement will not give rise to any liability on our part or in any claim being made against Fairfax.
- You agree to indemnify Fairfax against any losses, liabilities, costs, claims or expenses whatsoever arising directly or indirectly from any breach of the warranties set out above and/or from any costs incurred in our making corrections or amendments in accordance with the terms that follow.
- We may publish the advertisement in the next available issue if there is an error or delay in publication of the advertising as booked.
- Advertisements will be classified under the headings we consider correct and for the convenience of readers.
- We may correct or amend advertising to conform to style or for other genuine reason as long as we do so using reasonable care.
- The guarantees contained in the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 are excluded where the advertiser acquires or holds itself out as acquiring, goods or services for the purpose of a business.
- We will not be liable for any loss (including any loss of revenue or profit and any indirect or consequential loss) arising from or in relation to any error or omission in publishing or failure to publish and if we are found to have any liability for any circumstance that liability is limited to the cost of the space of the advertisement.
- To cancel an advertisement, you must contact us at least three days prior to publication and use your unique reference number to identify the ad. Cancelations occurring within the three day working period will not be refunded. We will have no liability for failure to act on any cancelation.
Fairfax will only use the information supplied to them for the purpose of printing the ad in the newspaper.
Trade Me - exclusion of liability
You agree that Trade Me's liability and responsibility is excluded in respect of any action or omission in relation to your print ad and how it appears (or doesn't appear) in the selected newspaper.
Trade Me's terms and conditions as set out on the Trade Me website form part of these terms and conditions and (with all necessary modifications) apply so far as is possible to this agreement.
