Description
This homemade cabinet is made from recycled Oregon pine. The dimensions are: 790mm wide, 500mm deep, 1290mm high
The timber came from the rafters of one of the old mansions in Parktown Johannesburg when it was undergoing renovation.
the timber was de-nailed, cut and planed into planks which I then glued into wider planks to form the top bottom and sides. The back is plywood made from radiata pine.
The whole unit was then stained and varnished with polyurethane varnish.
There was only Oregon pine for 2 shelves. The third shelf is high density particle board.
The shelves are adjustable using steel rails inset into the side panels and clips that can be set anywhere along these rails.
I built this to house my amplifier, tape deck, tuner and record player and about 100 vinyl LP records. All of that has been replaced by my phone and Spotify.
This unit is now surplus to requirements but I'd hate to see it used as firewood.
The address of the mansion in Parktown can be supplied if required.
