It is HEAVY due to the quality folding mechanism and memory foam mattress. You don't have to remove the cushions as they cleverly fold themselves under when you open the bed.

We bought this for having extra guests because it was so smooth and easy to open and felt amazing to sleep on BUT... once we got it into our place the modern look was way too out of place for our old style home antiques and furnishing, so with much humming and haahing we have decided to cut our losses and sell.
