AKA Oxalis nigrescens or purple leafed oxalis, this one's not a pest, especially if grown in containers where it thrives.

Looks great in concrete planters or light coloured pots which highlight the deep purple leaves and bright red stems but when the large, cheerful pink flowers arrive in profusion during the depths of winter, these small, black bulbs create quite a display.

Flowers are large and showy, 4-5cm in diameter when open and the delicate, shocking pink petals have a translucent sheen and darker veining. Flower centres are bright yellow.

Flowers appear around mid-winter and are cheerful, dramatic and fascinating.

Plants for this auction are potted in a 100mm plastic planter and are shown from two different angles in the centre of the pictures. This planter contains around 8 bulbs which are soon to flower. Spectacularly.

All plants are growing in top quality potting mix in new containers.
