Originating in California, the Bearss Lime is an improved selection of the Tahitian Lime and the best cool climate Lime for the NZ home garden.

Produces loads of small thin skinned deep green almost seedless fruit with fragrant rind, juicy tangy flesh. The Bearss Lime is quite prolific, fruit ripening Jun to Aug, in Nov and again Feb/March. So pretty much fruit in winter, spring and again in mid/late summer.

Makes an ideal tubbed citrus tree with delightfully fragrant flowers and eye appealing fruits.

The Bearss Lime originated as a chance seedling of a Tahitian Lime, and was named after TJ Bearss of Porterville, California, who created one of the principal cultivars in 1895.

Citrus enjoy growing in warm sheltered sunny spots with their roots growing in organically enriched moist rich, free draining soils.

A good quality compost is the best thing you can feed your citrus with. In spring disperse a big handful of Blood and Bone around the tree, then mulch generously with Compost. Do this again in mid/late summer.

You are bidding on ONE new seasons healthy grafted Bearss Lime tree in a 3lit pot standing aprox 60-70cm tall (from top of pot to top of growth).

You can choose from either a dwarf or regular grafted Bearss Lime tree. Let me know your preference when ordering.

Dwarf grafted trees grow naturally to aprox 1.5-1.7m tall. They are ideal for smaller gardens or growing in large tubs.

Regular trifoliata grafted grow naturally to aprox 2.5m tall and are more vigorous growing (perform better in colder regions). Better suited to growing in the open garden.
