Persicaria Microcephala RED DRAGON aka Red Knotweed or Red Dragon Fleece Flower

A stunning foliage plant for a semi shaded or shady situation. The deep red/burgundy leaves are almost heart shaped with strong silver "V" shaped markings. The silver almost has a shimmer to it depending on the light. The leaves change colour as the season moves on with a stronger green tinge & a deeper maroon inset.

Produces small white flowers above the leaves in summer

Grows to around 60 - 70cm tall although some of mine are almost a metre tall but it does tend to fall on itself without support, mine grows under trees so often finds support on the lower branches of the trees. It will spread put to around 60cm. Can be grown in a pot or planted as a focus point or contrast in the garden. Very easy care.

Will grow in most soil types & situations although it does best in a semi shaded area & prefers the soil to be damp or moist (not wet). It will tolerate dry conditions, just doesn't grow as lush looking. Can be trimmed back to encourage new growth. The new shoots are usually bright red!

This plant is not invasive! Stems that fall on damp loose soil will take root if left alone but these roots are usually only surface ones - it takes a season to develop nice deep roots for new plants.

The photos show the plant at different times of the year, the colour varies through the seasons. The plant in the pot is one of the stock from which this auction will be sold from.

You are bidding on a plant which has good established roots & has several stems (not just 1 or 2). These plants are currently almost 50cm tall - they will be cut back to around 20-30 cm for shipping & to encourage new growth and reduce any stress. They will make an excellent display in a few weeks from planting.

Will be sent barerooted (some soil attached), wrapped in damp paper and moss. Plants are okay in this state for up to a week.
