This is a lovely, healthy specimen, which has been standardised, as you can see in the photo.

Kowhai are a native plant which likes a sunny position, and attracts birds to your garden. Their flowers in spring are yellow and loved by wax-eyes. The leaves are a mid/light green and tiny, so they create a more delicate effect than portuguese laurels or bay trees.

Plant a couple each side of your front door, or down a path. These plants are about 90 cm high at present.

These kowhais are very popular, and make an ideal gift. I have several of these, and check out my other plants on for sale on Trade Me.
