Auction is for 250gms approx. 15 bulbs. These bulbs have been grown in our family for over 30 years. Shallots grow well in most parts of NZ and can be grown like garlic with multiplying bulbs forming each season around the parent bulb. Each bulb produces 6-8 bulbs around it when planted. Plant slightly raised from the soil in late winter, early spring and harvest in late summer when the leaves start to dry off. Lift, dry for a few days then separate the bulbs and store. Shallots have a lovely delicate flavour used widely instead of onions in French and Asian cuisine. These Shallots have been biologically grown. We use No Chemical Sprays.
