Welcome to our auction. You are bidding to name Orana Wildlife Park's five-week-old Rhino calf - the highest bidder will name the baby! We'll also arrange a naming ceremony for the successful bidder and invite the media to attend.

Our Rhino calf is currently affectionately called "Bruce" while we wait for his real name. If you want him to keep that name you need to be the highest bidder! This boisterous, five week old Kiwi born African, made his first public appearance at Orana Wildlife Park yesterday. The hefty calf tips the scales at 70kg but athletically bounds around his spacious home. He is on display on fine weather days but still has access to his night area whilst adjusting to his new surroundings. The calf's mother (a first time mum) is called Tamu and the father is Cyrano.

Bruce is a Southern White Rhino and his species is mainly threatened due to poaching for their horn. Orana is part of the managed captive breeding programme for these animals. This is only the second Rhino born at the Park and the birth is a significant achievement as the reproduction rate of captive born Rhinos is extremely low.

Funds raised through the auction will support Orana's White Rhino breeding programme. Orana Wildlife Park is a registered charitable trust. Please feel free to ask questions. Happy bidding ...

Please note: Orana reserves the right to disallow any offensive or completely inappropriate names.
