A nice specimen of boulder opal from Queensland. This piece is a beautiful dark blue colour.
The piece has a flattish bottom ,so ready to go straight on the mantle-piece or into the collection.
The piece clearly shows the way the opal forms in cleavage fractures and fissures in the enclosing ironstone matrix rock.
