Common part to fail or give rough idle, poor power/acceleration/boost & bad fuel economy.
I have replaced AFM in the past as low as reading 80,000km.
False readings from the AFM to the ECU will give either give engine to much/less fuel possibly causing engine failure.
These are pron to fail due to dirty air filters by dust passing through the air filter & sticking to the AFM hot wire causing it to short & give a false reading & drivable. Most people wouldnt notice but i see it alot when tuning a car digitally/dyno.
It can become that bad when accelerating/or keeps stalling for the car to not want to go anywhere & splutter/backfire.
This can cause car to lean out or over fuel either melting pistons or burnt valves (common when under boost)
