1965 VW Terra
Description
I think this is a 1965 model Terra built in Cambridge. There were very few Wagon style Terras made of the 450 Terra's built and this is the only one of it's type that I am aware of. I bought this with the full intention of restoring it as it has many of those parts that usually disappear such as the wooden roof racks, Terra manufacturing badge, mirrors etc. I am still completing 2 other vehicles and don't have time or the focus that this NZ icon deserves. It has received many names from friends and visitors from Vummer, F'ugly, Cool' what is it? and it has been the first conversation piece even next to some pretty impressive vehicles. I have replaced the original floorpan that was from a 59 beetle and it now has a useable 63 pan and gearbox. The body is just sitting on the pan and needs some rust remedial, the panels are steel as is the roof with rust showing. The guards are fibreglass and need repairs, doors open and close and require some repair but as almost everything in the vehicle is straight/flat panel the work will be easy compared to a beetle. This needs a passionate VW junky to bring back what could be the only version of this model left with all the hard to find bits still with it. There is no engine with this as it was badly rusted, the single solex side-draught carb and manifold is there as well as some of the parts. Please ask questions for any info you would like.
