Must go, so offered at $1 reserve.
Beaut go-anywhere enthusiast's 4WD with significant modifications:
* Holden 186 fitted and going well
* comfortable front seats
* rear squabs removed and forward-facing rear seat fitted. Rear seat folds forward to free up cargo space
* 4 retractable seatbelts
* roll cage
All additions are certified.
This makes the girl a great vehicle for taking the kids in, as they can be comfortably seated and solidly belted in. In the event of a "misjudgement" by the driver the passengers are well protected by the roll cage.
The kids love her, and don't want to see her go.
Has what appears to be the original 4-speed gearbox, so while she can do 100km/h on the open road she's more comfortable around 80km/h. I've driven her down from the North Island, and on a weekend trip to Okiwi Bay, so she can handle the longer trips OK.
Steering is better than in most Landys of this age.
I haven't towed anything heavier than a standard trailer, but the 186 combined with original transmission means there's heaps of torque; should be great towing heavier loads.
Showing her age cosmetically -- a coat of paint and new seat covers would make a world of difference.
I've spent around $1300 getting the rear brakes sorted out (she'd been sitting still too long) and fitting a new clutch master cylinder. Even the hand brake works!
Known issues:
* brake booster vacuum diaphragm is apparently ruptured. Means it takes a little more right foot to pull her up, but the brakes are still perfectly serviceable and in warrantable condition.
* trailer plug wiring doesn't appear to be serviceable
* windscreen wipers intermittently hesitate
Odometer reading is in miles; has obviously been around the clock at least once. Exhaust steam in the photos shows she starts OK in a hard frost.
Phone or txt to have a look or take her for a drive. Happy to deliver in the South Island at your expense. Feel free to ask questions.
