Yamaha RZV500 1986
- Closed: Wed 22 Sep 2010, 2:10 pm
- Listing #: 318151124
This RZV is an import from Japan, and not to many of these about in this condition and they seem to be getting scarcer all the time.
This was the worlds first production model to mount a liquid-cooled 2-stroke V-4 engine. As the flagship model embodying Yamahas sports spirit and also as the fastest road-going model of its day, the RZV500 stood proudly above the rest. It was the direct descendent of the YZR500 works machine that Kenny Roberts rode to the championship title with six wins in the 12 rounds of the 1983 World GP. The engine boasted new advances in 2-stroke technology like giving the forward and rear banks of cylinders different induction systems; piston reed valve in front and crankcase reed valve in the rear.
Overall length x width x height: 2,085mm x 685mm x 1,145mm
Weight: 173kg
Engine-type: Liquid-cooled 2-stroke V-type 4-cylinder499cc
Maximum power output: 90ps/8,500rpm
Maximum torque: 5.7kg-m/7,500rpm
This bike was imported from Japan and first registered 14/4/1989, bike has had 3 NZ owners, 1st owner had it for 12 months, 2nd owner was a Motorcycle dealer for 5 months and the 3rd owner had it stored for 20 years.
Both tyres are 3 years old but they have never been ridden on, fork seals and fork oil done at the same time, fuel tap and oil pump have both just been overhauled.
This bike is immaculate as seen in the pics and it starts and runs like new. Currently the bike is fitted with a new dash reading zero on the clock. If interested you can view this bike at Bayride Motorcycles Ltd, 337 Cameron Road, Tauranga.
Grab yourself a piece of Yamaha History!
You wont find a better example in NZ, if any at all.
Happy bidding...
