In its tough adventures, the 450 EXC is backed up by a 449.3 cc, 1-cylinder, 4-stroke, water-cooled engine which is mated on a six speed transmission with wet multi-disc clutch.

The engine management system (EMS) from Keihin, with electronic fuel injection and 42 mm throttle body, ensures spontaneous responsiveness and maximum engine performance. An oil-cooled, 196 W alternator provides sufficient power for the fuel injection system, lights and other electrical loads. Various engine characteristics can be selected via the EMS, with a map-select switch available as a PowerPart

The engine is mounted on a central tube frame made of chrome molybdenum steel tubing. The frame sits on a front WP suspension Up Side down fork (300 Mm wheel travel) and a rear WP Suspension PDS shock absorber (335 Mm wheel travel). The stopping power is handled by 260 mm front and 220 mm rear disc brakes which can deal great with anything you ask of them.
