Possibly needs the head replaced as slow on starting in a frost (low compression), I would have checked and replaced it myself except I have recently moved down from Wellington and am waiting on my tools to come. Worst case new head $700, head gasket $90 and a few hours labour getting to know your new 4x4. I have since talked to a diesel mechanic and he thinks it is more likely a collapsed cell in one battery as its not blowing white smoke and there is no water in the oil.
