Extensively mechanically refurbished, this car has proven to be totally reliable for long distance touring.

The design correct 2 litre Nissan Z series engine and 5 speed gearbox give excellent performance, and fuel economy of 38 mpg (7.5l/100km).

The car will cruise at 80 - 120 kph effortlessly, and overtaking is easy.

This Mk5 replica of the 1953-1955 MGTF, manufactured by Alternative Cars International Lid, is production number 223 (of over 500 cars), and has the purpose designed chassis. The body is fibreglass, with the exception of the steel bonnet and engine side panels. The roof is quality fabric (not cheap PVC) and does not leak.

We have owned the car for 5 years and toured over 40,000 km, but now have other interests, hence the sale.

Over $14,000 has been spent on the mechanical refurbishment, and a set of 5 Maxxis MZ-701 175/80/R14 tyres as per the design specification have recently been fitted.

G.J.Blacklow - Ashburton did the complete engine refurbishment in October 2012. This included new pistons, rings, bearings, all valves, oil pump, water pump, timing gear set, head stud set, and polished crankshaft and camshaft.

Triangle Garage - Ashburton did the engine in/out, and also the full reconditioning of the gearbox. At the same time all the cooling system was checked, the radiator cleaned and tested. New hoses, thermostat, radiator cap and fan belt were also fitted.

The live rear axle was tested and rebuilt by The Diff Shop- Christchurch.

The front disc rotors have been replaced with new Zonelli units, and the slave cylinders and rear brake shoes were replaced by Holland Motors - Timaru.

A new alternator was fitted in 2012.

We have a personal number plate TIVII (T for two) available if wanted.

The quality of the full rebuild makes this a very attractive car to buy. I doubt if better is available.
