Morris Minor Van 1971 1098cc engine.
I have owned 6 Minor van’s, been a member of the MM LCV register for 10 years, and this is the straightest one I have had, by no means immaculate but the most important things for MM vans are very good on this one. Please remember this is a 41 year old commercial vehicle, and led a working life, hence why there are so few of these left, especially in original state.
Originally owned by NZ Electricity Board, in yellow, 3rd owner brought it in 1980 and owned till last year, he got it painted blue. I am the 4th owner. Spent $2k on getting it back on the road receipts for:- 4 new tyres, RHF wheel bearing, sorted rear brakes, replaced front brake cylinders brake shoes and brake fluid, replaced rear leaf springs bushes, replaced clutch and gearbox mounts. WoF last week, Front trunnions replaced, and a new pipe for the exhaust to engine fitting.
Minor vans can suffer rust on the chassis and the roof guttering. The chassis shows no sign of rust. Guttering is still very good, and been treated with a rust preventer inside and out, one or two small signs of surface rust but not too bad. Does use/burn oil, the next job was to sort this out, although it runs well, the oil use goes down after a good run, the engines are relatively easy to work on and fix, was lower priority. Radio, tow bar, roof air vent needs freeing up. Paintwork tired in places. A few scrapes and some small rust spots on some of the panels, see pictures.
Overall, needs a bit more to make a stunner but a very sound and solid Van, and would make a great advertising van for a company.
The van maybe at the British Car day in Trentham Park on Sunday 12th Feb if you would like to take a look, or otherwise happy for potential buyers to view.
Reason I am selling as I should have used the money on the van to get my Minor UTE finished off !!
I know once the van has gone, I will regret it, needs must.
Ask any questions, bidding to buy.
Payment with 5 days of auction ending.
