This is Blue Thunder. Arguably the most smile-inducing vehicle in New Zealand. She would make an amazing promo car - nothing, not even a dirty great Hummer, gets this much attention. Every time I take her out I'm inundated with people wanting to know the make and model, what the engine is, or simply to stop for a photo with her.

The Good:
*Drives like a dream. Not fast, but very involved. With the engine in the back driving the rear wheels the handling is amazing - virtually impossible to put a foot wrong.
*So simple, it's beautiful. No electronic fuel injection, no fifth gear, no power steering, no power brakes, and couldn't be better with any of those technologies.
*She is extremely reliable. I changed the sparks and reset the timing on purchase, and have done 100+km a day trouble-free ever since. Parts are readily available as it's related to the SJ410, Carry, and others.
*Weighing in at just over 600kg, she's extremely economical, consistently achieving 6.5l/100km (around 42mpg). Not many cars these days you can fill up for $40! .
*Sounds great. The stereo is pretty good for a wee car and the straight pipe roars and burbles.
*Looks great. Custom bodykit and paintjob are nicely set off with classic Cheviot rims and a matching blue and black interior.
*Just been serviced and flew through a WOF with no warnings.

The Bad:
*Too loud for some tastes...just legal.
*Paint looks great at a distance but isn't perfect up close.
*Seam has come apart on driver's seat.
*Rear seats only really good for around town - she is smaller than a Mini after all!

Blue has been a lot of fun to own, and I'll be very sad to see her go. But I'm a student with a summer to fund and another vehicle, so she's got to go.
