CAMERATA – THE POWER & THE GLORY
Larry Blakely's enlisted the talents of Maestro Camarata, with over 400 albums to his credit and a resume that looks like the Who's Who in the music industry. Camarata scored and conducted numerous orchestral albums for London Records, was Music Director for Walt Disney for 16 years in addition to scoring albums for legendary artists like Jascha Hiefetz, Billie Holliday, Louis Armstrong and many more. Then legendary recording engineer Bruce Botnick was recruited. With over 26 gold albums, 5 platinum albums and a Grammy award to his credit, Botnick has also recorded over 60 major motion picture music soundtracks.
Camarata started by studying the selected LDS hymns and reading the history of each. His goal in scoring the album was to paint musical pictures of what the words of the hymns implied. Camarata approached the project very seriously and spent two years scoring the album. He said his album was very important and he wanted it to be the best work he had ever done. The album was recorded utilizing musicians comprised an orchestra of over 100, a 180 voice adult choir, a children's choir, pipe organ and antiphonal brass. No expense was spared.
Some of the highlights on the album include a powerful 8 minute rendition of Come, Come, Ye Saints; starting with the sounds of wagons and a lone harmonica playing the melody, as the music builds, you can almost feel the challenges, trials and sorrows of their journey and then experience the joy of the triumphal march of the saints entering the Salt Lake Valley as the heavenly hosts burst into song. Other selections on the album include
O My Father,
I Believe in Christ,
The Spirit of God,
Childrens Medly
Families Can Be Together Forever,
I Stand All Amazed,
Beautiful Savior,
Come Come Ye Saints
I Know That My Redeemer Lives,
Because I Have Been Given Much,
I Need Thee Every Hour
I Know My Father Lives.
CD as NEW & in excellent condition.
