Body - basswood
Basswood is a soft wood with tight grains. The softness of basswood provides a smoothing and dampening of the sharp highs. Being a lighter weight has definite benefits if standing for a long time. Basswood doesn't resonate the deep sub-lows and as a result leaves the midtones pronounced. This makes it very suitable for the typical guitar range, and especially suitable for lead guitar as it has that "up-front" sound. This provides a strong fundamental tone as the more complex overtones and sharp highs are muted.
