Use the Kazoo to modulate your voice and provide the unique sounds that only a Kazoo can provide. The whole idea is a kazoo player sings or speaks through the Kazoo which makes the membrane vibrate and creates a humming, "nasal" sound.

By wholly or partially covering up the membrane hole a wide range of different sounds are created. The membrane is the key point of the kazoo. This membrane gives the kazoo its distinction from other instruments.
