Unlike substandard copies, this Pad-Saver slips into the sax in a silky smooth manner, and the microfibers do NOT drop pad-damaging lint....

I personally tested one, inserting it into my saxophone 3000 times, equivalent to 10 years of daily use. NO visible lint was deposited on the large, white paper sheet I did this experiment over.

When the Pad-Saver is inserted into the saxophone, it wipes the bore clean and wicks moisture etc from the pads and tone holes.

A Pad-Saver keeps the bore of the sax clean, and minimises moisture damage to pads. When moisture is left on the pads, the leather and underlying felt tend to harden, possibly because hard, dissolved mineral deposits remain when moisture evaporates. Hardened pads do not seal well, eventually making leak-free adjustment impossible. Replacing pads is expensive, so using a Pad-Saver is cheap preventive maintenance, saving the player from high expense later.

As an experienced player and leading repair technician - see my profile - I recommend this Pad-Saver ahead of pull-through swabs. They are quick to use, don't tangle and knot like pull-throughs do, and a player typically keeps it inside the sax, hence always USES it.
