This bow saver is designed to stop accumulation of "gunge" inside the looped bow, just below the neck of a baritone saxophone.

If left to accumulate, this gunge can be quite a thick deposit, narrowing the bore and hence affecting the performance of the sax.

Insert the bow cleaner every time the sax is put away. Then wash it when it gets grubby.

It is made especially flexible, so that it easily goes around the bends of this part of the sax.

Unlike substandard types, it is made from microfibers that slip easily into the sax, past the intrusive octave vent. And it doesn't drop pad-damaging lint...

I personally tested an alto sax HW Pad-Saver, inserting it into my saxophone 3000 times, equivalent to 10 years of daily use. NO visible lint was deposited on the large, white sheet of paper I did this experiment over.

This is an inexpensive form of preventive maintenance, saving the player from high expenses later.

As an experienced player and leading repair technician - see profile - I recommend this bow cleaner ahead of pull-through swabs, partly because it is so quick to use and doesn't tangle and knot like pull-throughs can, and partly because a player typically keeps it inside the sax, hence always USES it.
