Built in amplifiers mean you just connect the output of your mixer to the speakers, no separate amplifiers required.

Each speaker has its own dual input mixer allowing connection of two sources with separate volume controls, ie mic plus guitar, or synth plus drum machine etc.

So with two it makes a great PA, but as a single the Titan series is also really convenient for a personal monitor for practice rooms, dance studios etc or even a mono PA for small gigs. They have pole mounts for standard speaker stands, but also have an angled side with feet so it can be laid on its side at a good angle for monitors.
