The Turbosound Flashlight and Floodlight speakers were a revolutionary speaker in the not too distant past and there are still many respected, mature Audio professionals who feel these speakers still sound better than any current line array, especially when it comes to dynamic range and sheer power. Line arrays do offer more even and predictable coverage but there are many who still prefer not to be predictably covered with muck. Could any line array cabinet replace a Marshall guitar cabinet? Not to my ears and its got nothing to do with distortion.

10 to 15 year ago, many of the biggest Bands in the world were using Flashlight and Floodlight speakers for their tours, from 70,000 seater stadiums to smaller indoor venues. Hit Google for tons of info. These speakers have an extraordinary pedigree.

They would be best placed in a House of Worship, school, club, small venue or touring Band who really cared about their "sound". There are a few obvious pluses in their basic design - they have tweeters and 21" matching Subs. Try and find any line array that has a tweeter! What all line arrays do is massively boost the high frequencies going into what really is an upper midrange horn and force it to try and reproduce the upper nuances in almost all music and speech. All line arrays require massive frequency manipulations that make a 1/3 octave equalizer look like the Swiss Alps.In contrast, with no EQ these speaker sound very good and ultimately coherent.

We used to have 250 Turbosound cabinets. The snobbery that came with line arrays forced us to replace them and here they are - a bargain for the money on offer.
