The Kaoss Pad Quad is a new take on Kaoss. Where the KP3 uses its effects in a fixed set of 100 (well 90 + 10 synths), the Quad allows you individual control of 4 simultaneous effects of your choosing at once.

This is achieve by providing 4 groups of effects:

Group 1: Looper, Reverse Looper, Loop Slicer, Grain Shifter and Vinyl Break

Group 2: Distortion, Decimator, Ducking Compressor, Flanger and Phaser

Group 3: Low Pass Filter, Hi Pass Filter, Band Pass Filter +, Jet and Pitch Shifter

Group 4: 1 Delay, Delay, Tape Echo, Reverb and Delay Reverb

With this setup you can pick and change any of the effects running, as well as quickly changing the sends. Each of the 4 effects has its own Freeze button (hold on KP3), so you can for example use the touch pad to get a good distortion sound, freeze it, and then start a filter to modulate the cutoff, but the sound of the distortion will remain the same. Also you can modulate up to 4 FX at once with one finger. These changes really give you more control.

So this is not a replacement for KP3, as the Quad does not have any sampling or looping facilities like KP3, nor MIDI or USB. But for straight out FX implementation, this is much easier to live with due to the dedicated FX select buttons, combined with the power of choosing 4 simultaneous FX.

As you would expect it is fitted with a tap tempo button, so you can sync your delays and LFOs, but it also has a auto BPM detect.

It uses standard RCA line input, but also has a mic input for effecting your vocals. A headphone output is provided for quick and easy monitoring.
