This is an amazing synth with virtually endless sound shaping possibilities. It can generate sounds in many ways including subtractive (analogue style), additive, FM synthesis and more.

It has a variety of oscillators ranging from standard waveforms (with some awesome extra features) to specialized waveforms, percussion, string and metallic noise oscillators.

It also contains an expansive collection of filters, envelopes, LFOs, sequencers, MIDI modules and effects such as phaser, flanger, chorus, delay, reverb, digitizer, compressor (with side chain input) and more...

Being a virtual modular synth (ie. no fixed architecture) you can emulate all your other synthesizers easily or create sounds unlike anything else you've heard. Great for a gigging musician who's sick of taking 4 different synths to a gig or someone interested in sound design who wants to create a truly unique sound. It is also a great tool for learning how synths and their signal flow actually work.

It has 4 audio inputs for processing external audio and 4 audio outputs to configure however you wish (meaning you could use the G2 as an effects processor for guitar, vocals or absolutely anything else). It also has a headphones jack + MIDI In, Out and Thru.

The Nord Modular G2 Editor program connects your computer to the synth via USB and makes creating and saving patches and assigning MIDI commands really easy as you can see everything in front of you as opposed to other synths where the user has to scroll through pages.
