Both married to maverick Scottish men, both in search of adventure and a kind of epiphany, both drawn for a myriad of reasons to the coral islands, lagoons, native and customs of the South Seas.

Following in Fanny's wake, Pamela's encountres witht he perils of the sea, the islanders - some of whom had never seen a blonde before - and latter-day pirates all make for compelling reading. Treasure Islands is travel, adventure, history and biography all rolled into one extraordinary book.
