De Dannan celebrate 25 extraordinary years at the forefront of Irish music with the launch of How The West Was Won, a double album featuring 25 superlative tracks that chart not just the history of De Dannan but the development of some of the country's foremost singers.
Frankie Gavin and Alec Finn have been the backbone of De Dannan since the band first played in Spiddal back in 1974. Working with musicians of the calibre of Johnny "Ringo" MacDonagh, Martn O'Connor, Jackie Daly, and Caroline Lavelle, over the years their rich diversity of sound has thrilled audiences world-wide, reaching the heart of traditional music with the great sean nos singer Sen O'Conaire, and crossing myriad boundaries with their unique arrangements of well-known tunes such as Hey Jude and The Arrival of the Queen of Sheeba.
De Dannan have launched the careers of an amazing range of singers, numbering among their ranks at various times Dolores Keane, Maura O'Connell, Mary Balck, Eleanor Shanley and Tommy Fleming, all of whom are now highly acclaimed in their own right.

How The West Was Won features sixteen classic De Dannan numbers, including one from each of the above singers; seven previously unreleased live tracks; and two new recordings, one of which introduces their latest discovery, singer Andrew Murray from Inisbofin.
