Before watering insert probe of its length into the soil. The meter will read dry to wet in three zones, red green, and blue. Red and blue zones may require watering depending on the variety. The meter reads 0 (low light) to 2000 (strong light) Set the switch to pH. Insert clean probe into damp soil that is free of rocks and debris. The meter reads 3.5 (acidic) to 8 (basic)
