SELKIRK GLASS....
Peter Holmes was one of Caithness Glass's original designers. He and Ron Hutchison established Selkirk in 1977 and built up an international reputation amongst discerning collectors for its timeless miracles in glass.

Through his own inventiveness, imagination and ability, the abstract paperweight as we know it today was first created by Peter Holmes in 1965. He continued to develop and master the skills required to craft the superb pieces which are the hallmark of Selkirk Glass. He trained a small, enthusiastic team of like-minded artists and their paperweights are displayed in many museums around the world.
Sadly Selkirk Glass is no longer in existence.

This is a stunning Limited Edition paperweight called "Star Watch" and is number 133 of 350.

A base of mottled teal with wave like tendrils lapping the edges, the base is dusted with a sprinkling of fine silver dust. Floating over the base is a large donut shapped silvery bubble with a smaller round bubble floating above this. Fine ribbons of silvery bubbles flare out from these bubbles.

This paperweight is etched on the base: "Selkirk Glass Scotland, Star Watch 133/350" and it bears the gold and black Selkirk label. Height 8cm, width 8.5cm, weight 872g. Box included.

This is item is in excellent condition with no chips, scratches or bruises.

Prices of Selkirk have skyrocketed since the closure of the glassworks and pieces such as this are an excellent investment as well as being a pleasure to behold.
