This is one of my favourite Crown Lynn retro patterns. We never had this growing up but I can vaguely remember family friends having this service. This was an impulse buy to hold on too until I get my dream holiday home to fill with retro finds! That’s going to be a way off yet so I would rather it was enjoyed by someone now. It is not common to find a set in such great condition, it is like it has just come off the shop floor.
‘Hippies influence design for the latest dinnerware…Crown Lynn has turned on with the flower children,’ announced the company magazine in December 1969 as the new Echo design was unveiled. Designer Mark Cleverley was quoted as saying he had drawn the design ‘with reckless abandon’ to appeal to the younger set. This all-over flower pattern proved to be one of the best sellers of all time, well outlasting the flower power era in which it was launched. It was still on the the market in 1979. ….Crown Lynn New Zealand Icon, Valerie Ringer Monk
Effectively this is a six place setting in excellent order with extras please see below
7 dinner plates- ex- 26cm
7 saucers- ex- 14.2cm
7 small side plates- ex- +1 with chip-17cm
6 tea cups-ex- + 1 cracked-
2 Jugs- ex-milk jug + gravy jug
13 pudding bowls-ex- 16cm
2 Large side plates- ex- 21.7cm
Condition: This dinner set is in Excellent condition and has no wear at all, I honest ly doubt it has been used as there is no cut marks on any of the plates( which is unusual as they were made as everyday sets and tend to mark easily) Two of the tea cups look to have been drunk out of(one has small crack the other some removable marks). One of the 8 side plates has a chip. And some have manufacturing flaws, primarily on the base, as is common.
Make: Crown Lynn ( some of the base marks are differ, so different settings were probably bought at different times)
Design: Echo
Designer : Mark Cleverly
Definitely PICK UP ONLY!!!!! Really heavy
please ask questions, thanks Sarah
