Description

J & G Morten Ceramic Designs Jack & Jill Teapot. The same design as J & G Morten Ceramic Designs in the permanent Modern Ceramics Collection at the The Victoria & Albert Museum.

'J&G Morten Ceramic Designs' was a partnership between Jenny Morten (BA Ceramics) and Geoff Morten (Masters Fine Arts Royal College of Art London) founded in 1974, from original business started by Jenny in 1972 known as 'Jenny Morten Pottery'. The studio was situated in West Norwood, South London and continued there until 1979 when it relocated to Richmond, North Yorkshire which provided the opportunity to expand the production facility in order to supply the ever increasing order book from outlets in Europe and the United States of America. Geoff and Jenny Morten relocated to California in 2003 establishing Mar Monte studios in La Selva Beach, Santa Cruz County. The couple are internationally recognized artists. Geoff passed away in July 2009 and Jenny returned to the UK to open Morten Gallery in SW England, where Geoff’s paintings, monoprints and etchings and Jenny’s ceramics are shown. Morten's ceramics were produced as individually handmade, thrown and modelled high fired studio stoneware. Each piece was signed, dated and numbered, and the original examples were sold from the studio and also exhibited at themed exhibitions mounted by Christopher Strangeways from his Kings Road Gallery, as well as outlets in Liberty’s of Regent St; Ideas in South Molton St; and Harvest in Covent Garden, London and have won many awards. The Victoria & Albert Museum selected the Jack and Jill Cheese Dish for their permanent Modern Ceramics Collection. Approximate Size: Height 18.2 cm Base diameter 14.2 cm
