Description
An old antique plate that I was told was 1880, but I do not know how this date came about. It has on the back J.M & Co, with a W underneath that. But also impressed into the clay on the opposite side, is, what I take to be B (?) & L England (perhaps Burgess & Leigh) I am told it is a Aesthetic Transferware Plate. (whatever that means) It is in good condition I think for an antique thing. Has no chips or cracks, and does not sound dead when tapped. It looks quite neat. It has some age staining and a bit of glaze crazing, the most is underneath so not much of a problem. A great piece if you collect old plates and do not have this one. It measures approx. 262mm odd wide at the rim, and it does not look like its had a lot of use, as there are hardly any actual knife or usage marks on it, probably been in a china cabinet most of its life. Needs a gentle wash to get rid of any dust or grime etc, but basically again, it is fine. We allow pickups, or we can pack & send on your behalf. Please note the different sending options & prices and choose the right one that applies to you. Thanks. 115 refN4948442
