Description
Stunning early Royal Worcester design with swags of fruit and leaves - Ashby is the name of the design, but has the opulence of early Rome or Greece.
22 pieces as photographed (now 24 - just found another two bread and butter plates, not photographed) - while Royal Worcester had no date code between 1942 and 1948, which this does not, a similar registered pattern number on ebay indicated 1894 date, so these pieces could be of that region.
Cups: 3 small - 8.5 cms brim by 6 cms high. 1 large - 10 cms x 7 cms. Saucers: 5 - 14 cms diameter. 2 - 15.c cms diameter. Cake plates: 8 - 16 cms diameter. Luncheon plates: 3 - 20 cms diameter. Dinner plates: 2 - 26 cms (would be magnificent on a wall).
Been in the family since new, some pieces are heavily crazed, but I have always loved the design. Moving house yet again since the earthquakes so have to trim down the storage!
Would consider selling individual pieces if requested prior to bids being placed.
Pick up Kaiapoi or could arrange central Christchurch pick up.
