This majolica plate has the design of a vine leaf moulded in relief on it. The maker's mark on the base says "Made in Western Germany" and has an impressed "V" and "176" also on the base. The soft yellow ground on the underside as well as the top sets off the soft green and pink leaf shape which has been highly glazed over. There are some pad marks on the base, where it was supported in the kiln, also some crazing and a couple of tiny nibbles on the rim. It measures 21.5cm in diameter. A lovely decorative piece of majolica for the collector!
