British BULLDOG in WW1 STEEL HELMET Royal Doulton
- Closed: Thu 2 Aug 2012, 9:00 pm
- Listing #: 497133940
British BULLDOG Wearing a STEEL HELMET by Royal Doulton an iconic British patriotic image used ALSO by the United States Marine Corps or USMC whose famed mascot is the 'Devildog'
SUPERB patriotic bulldog statue with the bulldog dressed in Kahkee and wearing a Brodie Steel Helmet as used by all Commonwealth Armies in WW1 and ALSO used & worn by the United States Marine Corps
The U.S.M.C. have a "DEVILDOG" as their mascot and this chap looks like he could have been the original INSPIRATION for that ?
World War One era production between 1918 - 1925 and reasonably RARE as I am led to understand
SIZE = 240 mm tail to tinlid
I saw one of these sell last year in the Auckland Dunbar Sloan Auction for about $1400.00 (and the buyer looked VERY pleased)
I guess if you are a STEEL HELMET COLLECTOR ? This would be the perfect addition to your collection display
CONDITION = is EXACTLY "as seen" in my images both feet have *small chips* that would likely disappear with a wee lick of restorer's paint ? :-)
PRICED as "damaged" but will be shipped in BULLET PROOF packaging so you can be ASSURED he will arrive SAFE and without further damage :-)
