The Piolet is the Velo Orange all-terrain do anything frame, it's designed for off-pavement touring, including dirt and gravel roads, dual track, single track or no track at all. It's built it to be sturdy, simple, and very capable

As with all VO framesets, it's built with double butted chrome-moly. Yay, the ride of steel baby!

The seat stays are a cool mono-stay design. The fork is also their own segmented design and loaded with bosses for mounting racks, water-bottles, gear cages, and mudguards. Both the frame and fork are tested to MTB standards.

You can also use 650b (27.5") wheels. 650b x 2.8" wide tyres have almost the same diameter as 700c x 2.4", so handling will be as intended and there is sufficient tyre clearance.

There are mounts for five water bottle cages. Two of these are on the fork. The Piolet has full mounts for front and rear racks. You can set it up like a traditional touring bike or bike-packer style. The mid-trail geometry allows for front or rear loading. And the mudguard bosses are proper mounts, this is a VO frame after all.

The Piolet's been designed to work equally well with drop bars and with flat bars.

With all the wheel/tyre size, handlebar style and luggage carrying options, the Piolet offers unparalleled versatility, providing an answer to the "if you could only have bike" question.

Here's the technical stuff you need to know when building it: 135mm rear spacing, IS mount disc brakes, 27.2mm seat post, bottom pull and bottom swing front derailleur, 73mm standard threaded bottom bracket, 1-1/8 inch headset.

We can provide appropriate build components, including a fitted headset, dirt drop handlebars, wide 700c (29") and 650b (27.5") rims and tyres, and build the wheels too
