The Aspartate is aspartic acid which is an amino acid and it is chelated to the magnesium. Aspartic acid has two jobs that it does, firstly it has supportive and protective functions for the liver, which is what deals with toxins. Secondly, it assists in the cellular transport of the magnesium, increasing absorption and bio-availability.

Not all magnesiums are created equally or absorbed equally. Magnesium aspartate doesnot compete with other minerals.
