Sound moderator (Can) for .22 cal.

This sound moderator was designed and manufactured by me, when I was a time served toolmaker in the U.K Shooting was my hobby. And I had a variety of farms to go on, for vermin control.

This moderator was made purposely for a Remington .22 magnum rimfire. Which I have long since sold.

It’s design is to slide over the barrel then locked in position with M10 stainless grub screws, that clamps down on brass inserts that are shown in the photos.

The baffles are made from Hi spec aluminium,(one is shown in the photos for a cross sectional view). The muzzle and mounting adapter are also made from the same material.

Baffles being nickel plated for a hard wearing surface. Muzzle and mounting adapter has been anodised and dyed black to military specifications.

Tube or body is made from 406 stainless aircraft spec. This has been white nickel plated then black nickel plated to (mil std.)

The main photo shows the workings and design. Spring being purpose made to suit.

One similar to this went on my mates .22 Hornet used for lamping foxes. Just had jet holes in the baffles around the cone shape, that can easily be machined.

There are a few more baffles that will be coming with it.

As it is, It’s great for subsonic and rimfire HV.

Bore diameter for adapter = 14.5mm dia. x 47mm deep. Instructions for dismantling and reassembling will be given to the purchaser.

A plug could be machined to fit the bore and locked in position with the above fixings then tapped to fit 1/2’’ UNF or UNEF threaded barrels.

Or could be re-skimmed to suit, or a split sleeve to fit barrel size. Just a few options.
